Other Shape Note Songbooks

There are quite a few other shape note song books in regular use overseas.

Officially titled The Sacred Harp, Revised Cooper Edition, 2012. The most common nickname for this book is “Cooper Book,” with singers in Georgia and Florida also calling it “The Blue Book”.

The Christian Harmony, 2010 EditionThe Christian Harmony tunebook was originally compiled by William Walker in 1866 using his own seven-shape notation. This tunebook included some songs from the earlier Sacred Harp and Southern Harmony but included many songs and hymns that became popular in the second half of the 19th century.

The Shenandoah Harmony, published in 2013, is a new shape-note songbook with a concentration on Shenandoah Valley music of the early nineteenth century.
