10 July 2016 – Newtown

The day following the Sydney All Day, we gathered for our regular monthly sing, with a twist. After a really fabulous lesson on beating time and accent from Karen, Meg lead us through a lucky dip quiz which tested our knowledge of Sydney suburbs and then challenged us to tie them to a song title. We had an absolute blast. Some chose to stick with their favourite tune, while others dipped into the Sydney Suburb Swag. A few liberties were taken. The songs starred below were not chosen from the swag, others are marked up to indicate the suburb. And this is what we sang.

Life from vegetation flying,
Calls to mind the mould’ring urn.

Looking forward to singing with you all again soon.

12+13 September 2015 – Notes by Elaena Gardner

We had two roaring singings this weekend as part of the Sydney Sacred Music Festival. On Saturday we watched the documentary Awake My Soul  and then sang out the evening. On Sunday afternoon we held a workshop with a fabulous gang of new singers and then powered through to dusk.  We were so excited that we forgot to keep a record what we sang or who was there.

It was a wonderful send off for  our dear friend Eimear Cradock who is heading back to Galway. “How sweet the hours have passed away, since we have met to sing and pray.”
